This paper analyzes the issue of spec work (speculative work) from a critical perspective. In order to go deeper in a situation where a company has carried out a design competition as a methodology for recruiting personnel, we propose a case of study: the Talent Hunt open call, organized by Jackie Smith during the month of August 2020 in Argentina.
The empirical study uses the critical discourse analysis, based on previous research which tackles argumentation and rhetoric in the context of digital social media, from the original publication of the contest in Instagram and three others that reacted to this initiative.
