The coexistence between hegemonic masculinity and the new masculinities. Is the exercise of an anti-patriarchal masculinity possible?
Abstract
With an antipatriarchal studies theoretical frame and within the domain of social, human and citizen’s rights, this article presents the results achieved through the PROINCE 55 A/224 research project; “New Masculinities, origins and perspectives of antipatriarchal male organizations”, with basis on this university and developed during the period 2018-2019. Contextualized in gender issues, it reflects the way in which new masculinities are socially constructed, by virtue of spotting the diversity of existing masculine experiences and identities, and with the aim of deconstructing reductionist and hetero-cis-patriarchal views. This research presents the empirical data obtained from online surveys carried out using the Google Forms platform, to a sample of 1255 male residents of Argentina, aged between 18 and 88.
