Peer Review Process

All works received by RIHUMSO journal will be subjected to a double-blind evaluation process carried out by experts from the disciplinary areas. The evaluators may be members of the Evaluation Committee or they may be other experts specifically called for the evaluation of a work.

The Editorial Team carries out plagiarism verification prior to sending the works received for peer evaluation, although external reviewers also collaborate in the detection of plagiarism, duplication, recycling and/or redundancies. The similarity check is carried out by using the online plagiarism detector PLag.es; the report prepared by the software is personally reviewed before the detection of any indication of plagiarism or bad practice is communicated to the author. The following are considered bad practice in scientific publication: plagiarism; the recycling of writings already published by the author; excessive use of self-citation; duplication, overlap, redundancy or simultaneity of submissions to different journals; the use of false data or fraud in the investigation; the use of data, results or materials that are not their authorship without the corresponding citation and authorization; the incorporation of authors who have not made a real contribution to the article.

RIHUMSO undertakes to request and publish any retractions/apologies/clarifications that may be necessary in the event of proven bad practice or improper conduct that has occurred in relation to published material and that has not been previously detected during the process.

The total review period may take up to four months (without considering the summer recess period corresponding to the month of January), considering that this period may be exceeded in the case of being necessary to add evaluation rounds.

The referees have 15 days to accept the evaluation of a work and 30 days to review it.

Once the observations resulting from the external evaluation process have been communicated, the authors will have a period of 30 days to send corrections and/or request an extension. If there is no response, the article will automatically be considered rejected.

In the case of disputes regarding the results of the evaluation, the work will be sent to a new external reviewer in order to obtain an additional opinion that will allow an editorial decision to be made in this regard.

The Editorial Team reserves the final decision on the publication of the articles, depending on the internal order of the journal.

The evaluation forms are differentiated by genre (scientific article, research notes, essays, reflection and debate topics) and observe: general aspects of the presentation of the work and issues related to the content.

The results of the evaluation differentiate three categories: 1) Publish the text as it was presented since it meets the required standards; 2) Condition the publication of the text on overcoming the observed deficiencies; 3) Do not publish the text because it does not meet the required quality standards.
