Abstract

The rapid progress of the so-called sharing economy is revolutionizing labor relations. In this paper we carry out a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the situation in Spain and its labor market after the emergence of several models of sharing economy in the latest years. This is done through the data available and the factors that scientific literature highlights as key to the development of this type of economy. The results show that there is a trend towards deregulation, promoted by national and international organizations, which entails consumers´ empowerment but also lack of protection towards workers, in a context where the labor market is already less protective than at other moments in Spanish economic history.
