Sociability and elite young athletes´ identification models
Abstract
Nowadays the processes of construction of sport expertise are a fertile field in the design of programs pursuing sportsmen’s full development. In this context family, friends and sports referents play a fundamental role. We worked on a sample of 408 athletes between the ages of 13 and 17 of both sexes, who had prequalified for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires and who were surveyed anonymously and voluntarily. The results highlight the role of the family, the dynamics of social relations built around sport and the development of a sporting identity, which differs in some aspects to do with the different types of sports they do and their gender, among other. This study moves further into the analysis young sportsmen´s psychological profile and into the identification of the necessary psycho-social competences that guarantee the full development of the processes of construction of elite sport.
