The aime of this paper is to analyze the link between paid work and care in empirical research carried out in multiple contexts worldwide through a systematic review in various academic search engines. The papers found address this conceptual link from different perspectives: 1) perceptions of women's participation in the labor market related to care; 2) child care services in the labor market and support networks; 3) practices and conceptions of care in women's labor trajectories; and 4) social representations of care as seen from the family and paid work. It is concluded that the social obligation of care for women has an impact on their labor trajectories, leading to interrupted path, difficult reinsertions and job abandonment that penalize their current salaries, their retirement amounts and their possibilities of promotion to better positions.
