Who to trust? Addressing personal solidarity by empirical background in the west of the surroundings of Buenos Aires

The article exposes the results obtained in a field work carried out within the framework of a research project developed in the period 2009-2010 in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, in the districts of La Matanza and Malvinas Argentinas, in the surroundings of Buenos Aires, on the basis of the design, testing and implementation of a standardized questionnaire semi- structured applied to subjects randomly selected in a sample composed of adults of both sexes, located in different points of meeting in the public space, for the purposes of capturing experiences and perceptions, describe solidarity, and establish analytical associations from mutual trust as a substrate for the solidarity. The contribution seeks to bind the empirical and conceptual in an original way, on the topic of interpersonal solidarity and social trust, to respond the current concern about the power of the social ties to explain the possibilities of social coexistence, and the limits imposed on them by the insecurity and the material conditions of life.
