Abstract

Modern times propose a new horizon for the human beign.  This period was also forged by thinkers such as Thomas Hobbes.  Analyzing their work puts somehow in evidence the conceptual structures with which we understand our milieu.  At the beginning of the twentieth century a famous discussion about the Hobessian position took place between two great thinkers that had an enormous influence in the contemporary political reflection: Schmitt and Strauss. The first one will try to separate the English philosopher from liberalism.  The later one will try to give him fatherhood atributes.  This article’s intention is to re build , through careful reading of the worka, the critic that Strauss does to Schmitt so then evaluate the possibilities and limitations of a modern political project.
