Reality, desire or imagination? Case study on identity construction of children

Abstract

This article explores identity and belonging processes of children towards public space and living in shanty towns from "Partido de la Matanza". It is based on analysis of neighborhood drawings from and the account from children between 6 and 13 years old. The results allow us to observe the distance between the objective conditions from the aforesaid spaces and the children wishes and imaginary. These wishes feed the belonging and identity of children, which are essential to the public policy over sports area and recreation games for social integration.
