Argentina's return to the IMF in 2018 became one of the main topics of public controversy. The political and media system activated a process of framing the issue aimed at influencing public opinion perceptions. This article seeks to provide empirical evidence on the positioning of Argentine citizens regarding the agreement reached by the Government and the organization in January 2022. We use the opinion survey as an instrument for data collection. The theoretical framework that guides the study integrates the conceptualization of framing and the contributions of governmental communication studies. The main findings include a certain degree of misinformation regarding the signing of the agreement, controversy in the social debate regarding the public debt process, and negative evaluations of government communication.
