The "body-school" in Basil of Caesarea

The aim of this work is to understand the way in which the body was included in Basil of Caesarea's Homilies on the Origin of Man. In it, the author gives instructions on Christianity and addresses the relationship between man and God. Coming from an elite background, Basil wrote for other aristocratic Christians belonging to his community. This period marks the historical transition from Antiquity to the Middle Ages. The study method used comes from social history. In this sense, the socio-political transformations that the East went through at that time were also analyzed, as well as the fact that the body in ancient history is active in the construction of the imaginary, playing a leading role in human life. It was also analyzed that reading about other historical periods can help to establish examples and thus broaden the understanding of the contemporary moment and the problems experienced
